Tahko

Tahko is one of the most famous and popular tourist centers in Finland, where there is plenty to do all year round. Tahkovuori is located in Pohjois Savo, in the middle of Nilsiä’s picturesque landscapes, countless leisure opportunities and comprehensive services.

Accessible from anywhere

Thanks to its central location, Tahko is easily accessible from anywhere in Finland. The nearest big city, Kuopio, is only less than an hour’s drive away. There is lively city life, –  the best shops, colorful cultural events and city sights are near at your.

In addition to slopes, Tahko has e.g. Spa, restaurants, activity parks, riding school, paintball field, two golf courses and Frisbee golf course. The best way to get to know the landscapes are various safaris, walking, by fat bike, snowmobile, riding reindeer, canoe, motor boat or bicycle. Lake Syväri also attracts fishermen from all over the world.

History

Tahko’s story began in 1968, when Nilsiän Matkailu Oy was opened the first ski slope . In the 1970s, the first ski lift and also the first hotels and cottages were completed. In the 1980s and 1990s, accommodation and program services developed significantly. The 1995 European Snowboarding Championships were organized in Tahko, the first golf course and riding center were opened. Now Tahko is a large and versatile ski resort, where every body will surely find something to do.
